Sept 14, 1927 - Sept 16, 2018

-

Rose, 91, transitioned peacefully on September 16, 2018. Born in San Francisco on September 14, 1927, Rose left an impression on everyone she met with her loving and peaceful nature, caring charm, and enduring strength. Rose worked for Pacific Bell in San Francisco as a secretary before moving to San Mateo 23 years ago, where she was involved in the St. Mark’s Church Ladies Guild. A 59-year survivor of breast cancer, Rose never ceased to find the little things in life which made it worth living and was absolutely adored by her family and friends. Rose was the daughter of the late Sarah and Ignatius Guardino, sister of the late Josephine Guardino, and sister of the late Salvatore Guardino. Rose is survived by her daughters Cathy Hess and Debbie (Michael) Comic, grandson Daniel Hess, and granddaughter Christina Comic.

The family would like to thank all the staff and her fellow residents at the St. John Kronstadt Care Center in Castro Valley, Rose’s home for the last three and a half years. Without their help and care, Rose’s journey would not have been nearly as loving and peaceful as it was.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 4:00 pm with a vigil following at 7:00 pm at Grissom’s Chapel, 267 E Lewelling Blvd, San Lorenzo, CA 94580. Funeral mass will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church, 267 E Lewelling Blvd, San Lorenzo, CA on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 10:00 am with entombment following at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Rose’s name to the American Cancer Society, 1650 S. Amphlett Blvd. #110, San Mateo, CA 94402.
