Veronica Sanchez passed away peacefully on September 20, 2018 at the age of 59. She is survived by her husband, Jeff Bornstein and son, David Bornstein, who are inspired to carry on her legacy of helping others. There are few people in this world who have reached the height of their purpose on this Earth as did Veronica. She will be remembered for her selflessne­ss, compassion, kindness and strength. As a lifelong public servant, she worked hard to help the men and women working on the San Francisco waterfront. Her passion was improving the lives of young people, especially young women in San Francisco and in her hometown of Leon, Nicaragua. In 2003 she founded and was the Volunteer Executive Director of a non-profit organizati­on dedicated to helping poor, abandoned youth in Nicaragua (www.ncfckids.org). A Memorial Service is planned for September 28, 2018 at 4 pm. at the Delancey Street Fountain Town Hall, 600 Embarcader­o San Francisco, CA 94107. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Immaculate Conception Academy Cristo Rey in honor of the Veronica Sanchez Scholarshi­p Fund, 3625 24th St., SF 94110.
