Wondolowsk­i scores, but Quakes stumble

Houston’s Romell Quioto scored the go-ahead goal in the 87th minute Saturday night as the Dynamo handed the visiting Earthquake­s a 3-2 defeat, San Jose’s fifth loss in a row.

The Quakes’ Chris Wondolowsk­i scored his 143rd MLS goal on a penalty kick to open the scoring in the 37th minute. Wondolowsk­i is two goals behind Landon Donovan for the league’s career record.

The Quakes took a 2-0 lead on Alejandro Fuenmayor’s own goal before halftime. Mauro Manotas trimmed the Dynamos’ deficit to 2-1 in the 56th minute, setting a franchise record with his 15th goal of the season.

Tomas Martinez tied it at 2 with a left-footed shot in the 68th minute.

England: Daniel Sturridge scored the tying goal in the 89th minute for visiting Liverpool after Chelsea’s Eden Hazard had scored in the first half, keeping both teams unbeaten in the English Premier League after the 1-1 draw.

Defending champion Manchester City is also unbeaten as Sergio Aguero scored in a 2-0 win over Brighton.

After a third loss in seven games, Manchester United’s hopes of a first title since Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013 are already fading. After United’s 3-1 collapse at West Ham, manager Jose Mourinho has matched the club’s previous worst EPL start (nine points in seven games) under Ferguson’s successor, David Moyes.

Elsewhere, Harry Kane’s two goals gave Tottenham a fourth win in five road games, 2-0 at Huddersfie­ld, and Arsenal got its seventh successive win in all competitio­ns, 2-0 over Watford.
