Lavr (Larry) Alexis Stoopenkof­f

Beloved husband of Kathleen (Katie) Kane, devoted father of Alex Stoopenkof­f, and Grandfathe­r of Samantha, Ella and Anthony Stoopenkof­f.

Larry was born in Mineola, New York, of Russian immigrant parents, Alexis A. Stoopenkof­f and Lydia Mayevski, who had escaped from Russia. He was extremely proud of his Russian Heritage. During High School he moved to Guatemala with his father, who was in the U.S. foreign service. Subsequent­ly, he moved to Ottawa, Canada, where he graduated from High School.

He was in the Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Upon his discharge he joined his family in San Francisco, Ca. He graduated from the University of California with a Degree in Architectu­re. He loved and was proud of his years as an architect and received multiple awards for his projects.

He enjoyed years racing his sail boat in San Francisco Bay and at the young age of 65 became an avid golfer/ avid, not great! And he loved the 49ers. Larry was straight forward and never hesitated to speak his mind, which endeared him to many and sometimes not. He will be missed by those who loved and admired him.

Friends are invited to a memorial at the Church of All Russian Saints at, 744 El Camino Real, Burlingame, California on Sunday at 7:00 pm and 11:00 am. A celebratio­n of his life will take place at the Pullman Hotel in Redwood Shores, CA., following interment at Skylawn Cemetery.
