Earl John O’Grady

Earl J. O’Grady was born in San Francisco, CA on June17, 1921. He was the son of John Joseph O’Grady and Mae Alma Shop O’Grady. He was raised in San Luis Obispo. He attended Notre Dame from 1939 to 1942 and graduated with a BA in Civil Engineerin­g. He played football at Notre Dame. Earl was in the Army Air Corps as a pilot during WWI in the Pacific, from 1942-1945. He attended Cal Poly from 1946 to 1948, where he received a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineerin­g. He was recalled for the Korean War and served from 1950 to 1952. He was married to Roxanna Spooner in 1947 and they had a daughter, Marsha Lynn in 1948. Roxanna passed away and he married Marylin Ruth McCarthy in 1957. They had no children. Marilyn passed away in 2009. Earl had a full career working for Pac Bell and the City of Santa Rosa as well as being in politics in Marin county and belonging to various societies, clubs and associatio­ns.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Friday, October 5, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Star of the Valley Catholic Church, 545 White Oak Drive, Santa Rosa, CA 95409. Reception to follow. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2018 from 11:00 AM until 8:00 PM at the Lafferty & Smith Colonial Chapel, 4321 Sonoma Highway, Santa Rosa, CA 95409. Entombment with full military honors will be held at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Santa Rosa following the Reception at 2:30 P.M.
