-

It is with great sadness that the family of Dorothy Marie George “Dottie”, announce her passing on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the young age of 96. She quietly departed this life surrounded by those that loved her unconditionally. She was the daughter of the late Pietro Trabucco and Celestina Sanguinetti and was born October 15, 1922 in Sacramento, California. She was united in holy matrimony to Angelo George and were happily married for 54 years. This union was blessed with one child, a son Barry George. Angelo preceded her in death in 2003. Dorothy was an active parishioner of St. Gabriel Church for the majority of her life; a member of the Italian Catholic Federation and actively volunteered with St. Ignatius College Preparatory where Barry attended High School.

Dorothy was a successful businesswoman who was self-taught. She touched many lives along with her late husband Angelo as owners and operators of The Philosopher’s Club in West Portal, a staple of the community. She loved her City by the Bay. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by many.

Her life was as beautiful as the flowers that she loved so well, and her influence and impact will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. She will forever be cherished in the lives of her son Barry and grandchildren: Christin George and Lauren George. Dorothy moved from San Francisco to Southern California to live with her granddaughter Lauren and soon to be son-in-law Mick Treadway in 2016 until her passing. They loved and cared for her daily and learned so much during their long talks and adventures.

Dorothy will be remembered for her inner strength and independence, devotion to family and service, love of learning, and pride in her Italian heritage. She nurtured and valued her relationships with her family members in Italy – whom gave her great joy.

She enjoyed life to its fullest – her smile and laugh always infectious, her storytelling legendary. She was honest, hardworking and fiercely loyal to her word. She was extremely generous and kind. She was a teacher of life with a century of wisdom. She had a special gift of being able to connect with people from every generation and walks of life. Even in her 90’s she surprised many with her good health, sharp wit, being up to date on current events, love of wine and food, and her stock market tips. Her impact on each life she touched was magical and instrumental and will live on for generations. She will be missed every day but her unconditional love will not to be forgotten.

A Funeral Service in memory of Dorothy Marie George will be held on Wednesday, November 7, at 11:00am, at the Holy Cross Cemetery Chapel, 1500 Mission Rd. Colma. In lieu of flowers, her family requests memorial donations be made in her memory to her most beloved foundation - St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (https://www. stjude.org/donate/donateto-st-jude.html).
