Manuel F. Martinez Jr. died peacefully with his wife and family by his side on 10/28/18 in SSF, CA. He was 85 years old.

Manuel is survived by his wife, Margarita (Castro) Martinez, his children Darlina Field, Sylvia Medina, Cynthia Maffei, Roberto Martinez, and Edward Martinez; his brothers Alberto Martinez and Jesus Martinez; and many beautiful grandchild­ren, great-grandchild­ren, nieces, and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Manuel Martinez and Maria (Fuentes) Martinez, his sons Manuel Martinez III and Samuel Martinez, and 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

Manny was born on October 30, 1932 in El Paso, Texas. He was a proud graduate of Bowie High School in El Paso Class of 1951. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served from 1951-1953 with the 1st Marine Division 5th Marines Regiment spending 13 months and 1 day in the Korean war. He married his middle school sweetheart, Margie, in 1954 and resided in South San Francisco. They raised their 6 children, who will forever remember their father as a kind, honest and hard-working gentleman who provided for them and encouraged them to pursue their life goals.

His career with Ford Motor Company lasted three and a half decades, eventually retiring then returning to work with Hertz Rental Car for several years. Manny was a proud member of the community having establishe­d many sincere friendship­s that lasted a lifetime. He enjoyed family gatherings, holiday functions, and annual vacations that the family will forever cherish. He was a charter member of the 1st Marine Division Associatio­n, a dedicated fan of the SF Giants and a longtime season ticket holder of the Forty Niners. He was a member of the Sociedad Mutualista Mexicana de Morelos community where he and Margie volunteere­d for decades having served as president on their Board of Directors.

A visitation is scheduled for 11/5; 5:00-7:00pm; followed by a Vigil at 7pm at Garden Chapel, in SSF. A mass is scheduled for 11/6 at 10am. at St. Veronica’s Church, in SSF. Committal to follow at Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Semper Fi Fund at https:semperfifu­nd.org or to the Peninsula Volunteers Inc.
