-

Joe Burrow passed for 321 yards and a touchdown, ran for another score, and secondranked LSU edged No. 9 Auburn 2320 on Saturday in Baton Rouge, La.

The victory ensured LSU (80, 40 SEC) would be unbeaten heading into its highly anticipated Nov. 9 trip to Alabama, which entered this weekend is ranked No. 1.

Clyde EdwardsHelaire rushed for 136 yards and a touchdown for LSU, which wasn’t able to put away Auburn (62, 32) until Derrick Dillon recovered an onside kick with 2:31 left.

While LSU’s prolific, uptempo spread offense was able to roll up 508 yards, scoring proved relatively difficult against a defense that thwarted drives into its territory with two fourthdown stops and an interception.

“It was a gut check tonight,” LSU coach Ed Orgeron said, praising the way his players stuck together. “They didn’t want to be denied.” #1 Alabama 48, Arkansas 7: Mac Jones, filling in for the injured Tua Tagovailoa, passed for 235 yards and three touchdowns as the top-ranked Crimson Tide coasted past the visiting Razorbacks. Even without the Heisman Trophy candidate Tagovailoa, the Tide (8-0, 5-0 SEC) raced to a 41-0 halftime lead and Jones only played one drive into the second half. Antioch High grad Najee Harris rushed for 86 yards and two touchdowns. Cornerback Trevon Diggs scored on an 84-yard interception return in the final seconds before the half, a week after returning a fumble 100 yards for a score against Tennessee. The Razorbacks (2-6, 0-5) couldn’t muster much challenge on either side of the ball.

#3 Ohio St. 38, #13 Wisconsin 7: J.K. Dobbins rushed for 163 yards and two touchdowns and Chase Young had four sacks as the host Buckeyes (8-0, 5-0 Big Ten) routed the Badgers (6-2, 3-2) in driving rain. Dobbins slashed Wisconsin’s top-ranked defense for long gains in the second half, including scoring runs of 9 and 14 yards. He outperformed the Badgers’ Heisman Trophy contender, Jonathan Taylor, who could muster only 52 yards rushing after averaging almost 137 per game coming in.

#4 Clemson 59, Boston College 7: Travis Etienne ran for 109 yards and three touchdowns, receiver Diondre Overton caught three scoring passes and the host Tigers (6-0 ACC) blasted the Eagles (4-4, 2-3) for their 23rd straight victory. Clemson extended its program best streak and opened 8-0

for the fourth time in five seasons.

The Longhorns (5-3, 3-2) lost a third straight game in Fort Worth for the first time since the 1940s. It was the fifth win in six tries against Texas for the Horned Frogs.

#17 Minnesota 52, Maryland 10: Rodney Smith ran for 103 yards to become his school’s career leader in all-purpose yards and Seth Green had two touchdown runs as the host Golden Gophers (8-0, 5-0 Big Ten) reached 8-0 for the first time since 1941. Minnesota has the nation’s fourth-longest winning streak at 10, trailing Clemson, Ohio State and Appalachian State. The Gophers were national champions when they started 8-0 in 1941. The 5-0 start in conference play is their first since 1961, the last year they earned a trip to the Rose Bowl.
