_1 Bolton book: A federal judge in Washington ruled Saturday that former national security adviser John Bolton can move forward in publishing his tellall book despite efforts by the Trump administration to block the release because of concerns that classified information could be exposed. The decision is a victory for Bolton in a case that involved core First Amendment and national security concerns. But the judge also made clear his concerns that Bolton had “gambled with the national security of the United States.” The memoir paints an unflattering portrait of President Trump’s decisionmaking. _2 Protest zone death: One person was killed and another was in critical condition in a predawn shooting Saturday in Seattle’s protest zone. The shooting happened at about 2:30 a.m. in the area near downtown known as CHOP, which stands for “Capitol Hill Occupied Protest“zone, police said in a statement. The suspect or suspects fled. Investigators were reviewing publicsource video and bodycamera video for clues. Protesters have cordoned off several blocks near a police station in the Capitol Hill neighborhood in the wake of demonstrations against police violence. Police have largely retreated from the zone after clashes with protesters.

_3 Statues removed: Crews worked to remove two Confederate statues Saturday outside the state Capitol in Raleigh, N.C., the morning after protesters toppled two nearby statues. On Friday night, protesters pulled down statues of two Confederate soldiers that were part of a larger obelisk. The statues were dragged down the street, and one was strung up by its neck from a light post. Numerous Confederate statues have been vandalized or torn down across the country following the death of George Floyd, a black man who was killed after a white Minneapolis officer pressed a knee into his neck. _4 Protest damage: Investigators said Saturday they have issued an arrest warrant for a woman in connection with a fire at a Wendy’s restaurant in Atlanta during protests over the police shooting of Rayshard Brooks. Natalie White is a suspect in the arson and investigators asked for help finding her, Atlanta Fire and Rescue said in a Twitter post. Police were called to the Wendy’s on June 12 over complaints of a car blocking the drivethrough lane. Things turned violent when officers tried to handcuff Brooks. An autopsy found Brooks was shot twice in the back. Garrett Rolfe was fired from the police department and is charged with felony murder. Protesters gathered after Brooks was killed, and a fire was set that destroyed the restaurant. _5 Hanging death: Video has confirmed that a black man found hanging May 31 from a tree at a Victorville (San Bernardino County) homeless encampment killed himself after breaking up with his girlfriend, it was reported Friday. Surveillance video from a nearby vacant building that was played for reporters showed Malcolm Harsch, 38, wrapping a cable around his neck, tying the ends to a tree limb and then letting himself fall, the Riverside PressEnterprise reported. Harsch’s family released a statement accepting that he died from suicide.
