_1 Bar shooting: A man was fatally shot and three others were wounded in a shooting early Saturday at a nightclub in Jackson, Miss., authoritie­s said. Cortez Shelby, 41, was shot in the neck and died at the scene, Hinds County sheriff ’s Capt. Tyree Jones said in a news release. A woman and two men were also shot and taken to a hospital. Their wounds were not considered lifethreat­ening. The sheriff ’s office shared images on Twitter of the shooting suspect, seeking help identifyin­g the person and saying the gunfire broke out after an altercatio­n at the MBar Sports Grill. The suspect left the bar and was not in custody. _2 Officer killed: An officer who was responding to a call in a store parking lot in Toledo, Ohio, was shot and killed early Saturday by an intoxicate­d man holding a beer, police said. Officer Anthony Dia was shot in the chest just after midnight and later pronounced dead at a hospital, police Chief George Kral said. Witnesses told police the man shot the officer with a handgun and then went into a wooded area. At some point, officers heard a single gunshot coming from the woods. The gunman, only described as a 57yearold male, was found dead from a gunshot wound to the head. Dia, 26, leaves behind a wife and 2yearold child.

_3 Surgeon charged: A Beverly Hills surgeon and his girlfriend have pleaded not guilty to taking part in a $52 million insurance fraud scheme that involved recruiting patients at sober living homes to undergo unnecessar­y surgeries and other procedures, prosecutor­s said. Dr. Randy Rosen and Liza Visamanos entered pleas in Orange County last week to a total of nearly 150 felony charges, prosecutor­s said in a statement. Four other people also have been charged. Prosecutor­s said they hired “body brokers” to find and pay sober living facility patients to have unnecessar­y procedures. _4 Protesters hurt: A man drove a Jaguar onto a freeway closed because of a rally in Seattle early Saturday and barreled through a panicked crowd of protesters, injuring two women, officials said. Dawit Kelete, 27, sped into the crowd on Interstate 5 at about 1:40 a.m., according to a police report released by the Washington State Patrol. Video taken at the scene by protesters showed people shouting “Car! Car!” before fleeing the roadway. Summer Taylor, 24, and Diaz Love, 32, were hospitaliz­ed with multiple injuries. The driver was in custody on two counts of vehicular assault. State patrol Capt. Ron Mead said Kelete was suspected to have driven the wrong way on a ramp, and impairment was not considered a factor. _5 Cold case arrests: Connecticu­t police have arrested two men in the fatal shooting of a 77yearold restaurant custodian whose killing in Bridgeport had gone unsolved for 27 years. Police said Danarius Dukes and Breeze Brown, also known as Eric Brown, were taken into custody last week. They are to be arraigned Monday. Dukes, 44, was charged with murder and felony murder, and Brown, 46, was charged with felony murder in the 1993 killing of Theodore Edwards. Police did not say what new informatio­n identified Dukes and Brown.
