San Francisco Chronicle - (Sunday)
Monthly series will open with Mirzoev recital
As we gradually emerge into what used to be called, quaintly, the fall arts season, an increasing number of arts presenters have begun to assemble their ad hoc virtual offerings into actual seasons. It’s almost like old times, at least in that regard.
California Music Center, the San Francisco home of the annual Irving M. Klein International String Competition, is about to launch Third Thursdays, a monthly online recital series featuring prizewinners from the competition’s past.
First out of the gate is violinist Julia Mirzoev, who took third prize in last year’s competition. Performing live from Toronto, along with pianist Coral SolomonBerkovsky, she is set to perform music by Beethoven, Debussy, Gershwin and more.
