Thank you, previous owners of Toy Boat Cafe, for sustaining a business that brought out the kid in all of us. Toy Boat appears to be saved, by Jane the Bakery owner Amanda Michael, who told Hoodline in late July that she’s optimistic about a plan to take over the space. But we have nothing but love and positive thoughts for Jesse and Roberta Fink, who opened the soda fountain and toy store in 1982 and maintained the childatheart friendly, lowtech, everyoneisenchanted vibe. “It’s a place for little kids, old people, everyone in between,” Jesse Fink told The Chronicle’s Guy Wathen in 2017. “No one’s going to say ‘I’m not welcome to this place.’”
