San Francisco Chronicle - (Sunday)
Wolfman Books
410 13th St., Oakland
Thank you, to Wolfman Books, for understanding that community is about opening doors and opening minds. The Oakland bookstore closed in July, but a group of employees hope to open Wolfman under a different name later this year. Justin Carder created the store in 2017 as a bookstore, publishing house, screening room and cultural center. Carder told The Chronicle’s Ryan Kost in 2017 that he never dreamed of owning a bookstore. “The dream is to have a space to gather people together.” The new group has a GoFundMe campaign, and hopes to open in October, serving Black, Indigenous, brown, queer, trans, revolutionary, local and youth writers.
