Osteria Stellina
READER NOMINATION
11281 Highway 1, Point Reyes Station
Thank you, Osteria Stellina, for keeping it local, keeping it personal and aggressively showing appreciation for the bounty of western Marin County. Tara Duggan reported in late July that the restaurant would close at the end of August after almost 12 years in Point Reyes Station. “Due to the COVID virus, as well as many other challenges, including seemingly every natural disaster short of a volcanic eruption, we have made the exceedingly difficult and emotional decision to move on,” the website read. A regular on The Chronicle’s Top 100 list for years, owner and chef Christian Caiazzo served seasonal pastas and specialties such as oyster pizza, and a menu that namechecked the local purveyors that provided the ingredients — including Farmer Mollie’s padron peppers and Star Route Farm lettuces.
