Thank you, Friends of the San Francisco Public Library, for providing a civic service and one of the greatest venues for bargain hunters in the city’s history. The nonprofit will continue to raise money and advocate for the most popular department in San Francisco, but they’ll do it without their warehouse in Fort Mason, where the annual Big Book Sale was a paradise for bibliophiles. The Friends of the San Francisco Public Library wrote on their site that they were considering closing the space before the pandemic because operational costs were too high. They are still taking volunteers and donations at friendssfpl.org.
