Richard Nido Dal Porto

Richard “Dick” Dal Porto passed away at his home on December 4, 2020. He will always be remembered for his loving spirit and his steadfast devotion to family and friends.

Richard was born in San Francisco, CA, the proud son of Italian immigrants. He grew up in the Mission District and graduated from Mission High School in 1956. In 1958, he joined the army reserves. Richard worked for Safeway for 58 years as a produce manager. In 1961, Richard met Mary Ann Cowley in San Francisco. They were married at Mission San Rafael on June 16, 1962. They raised their children in San Francisco. His varied passions included being an avid sports fan especially for the San Francisco Giants and San Francisco 49ers and working on cars and going to car shows with his two best friends from high school Jack Keane and Joe Musgrave. Richard’s 1957 candy orange colored Ford, which he entered in car shows, was his own special “hot rod” and stands as an example of his creative talent.

Richard was the son of the late Nido and Edith Dal Porto. He was the brother of the late David Dal Porto and the brother- in law of the late Sonja Dal Porto. He is survived by his loving wife Mary Ann Dal Porto of 58 years; his loving children, Bryan, Lauren ( Michael), John ( Victoria) and Sabrina; grandchild­ren, Michael, Samuel ( Courtney), Richard, Giovanni and Isabella; and great grandchild, Lillian. He also leaves behind his nephews Steven and Scott, niece Janine, cousins Ann

( J. S.) and Bob and relatives in Lucca, Italy. His generous spirit will be missed by all who knew him.

A private service will be held at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary with the burial at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park ( Hillside Section) oe
