John Francis King ( Jack), 88, died peacefully at his home in San Mateo, CA, surrounded by his family. Born in San Francisco, CA on June 27, 1932 to Catherine Bradley and Festus King, he was the eldest of seven children. Growing up in the Sunset District of San Francisco, Jack attended St Anne and St Ignatius schools, and spent many afternoons playing with siblings and friends at JP Murphy playground. Jack graduated from Drew High School where he met his true love and future wife, Leone Bray. In November 2020, they celebrated their 55th wedding anniversar­y. Jack was drafted by the US Army and served in the Korean War. Upon returning to San Francisco, he began his career in lithograph­y. After retirement, he enjoyed a content life at home with Leone, reading, gardening, traveling, and attending 49ers games with longtime friends.

Jack is survived by his wife, Leone; children Ted ( JoAnne), Anne, John

( April) and Elizabeth ( Mark); ten grandchild­ren; eight great- grandchild­ren; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his siblings Sister Catherine Mary, Colin ( Jeannie), Barry, and sister- in- law, Cheryl. He is preceded in death by his parents; children Jeanne and Janice; and siblings Dolores ( Adrian), Brian ( Cheryl) and Kevin.

Jack was a devoted and beloved husband, father, brother, grandfathe­r and uncle. He was a truly selfless man with a deep sense of loyalty and honor. His family and friends will miss Jack’s gentle, kind and positive spirit.

Due to COVID- 19 health restrictio­ns, services will be private, with plans for a memorial at a later date. Jack will be interned at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma, CA.
