Our beautiful mother quietly slipped into eternity early December 9th, 2020. Born to Portuguese parents in Hawaii, she was raised in Honolulu. She worked summers in order to graduate from Sacred Heart Academy. After graduation, she worked for many years in banking. On Waikiki Beach, in 1952, she met our father. They married in San Francisco two years later, and raised their five kids in the City, Santa Rosa and Daly City. She will be fondly remembered for her quiet wit, her unbelievable patience, her extraordinary good looks, and her deep, abiding faith. A highlight of her life was a visit to Rome where she saw Pope John Paul II who she greatly admired.

She was preceded in death by our dad, Bob, her brother Frank, her parents, Maggie and Frank, Sr. as well as our dog, Champ, who she loved. She is survived by her five children: Michael, Daniel, Donna, Linda and Kevin; her fifteen grandkids, Erin, Jennifer, Katie, Debbie, Elizabeth, John, Emilio, Eugene, Rick, Chico, Eva, Evaristo, Espi, Ellie and Eloisa, and her seven great- grandchildren, Ryan, Elena, Audrey, James

Jr., Peyton, Luther and Freya. Richard Le Gallienne’s poem, “I Meant to Do My Work Today” was one of her favorites.

Aloha, Mom…. until we meet again.

“I meant to do my work today—

But a brown bird sang in the apple tree,

And a butterfly flitted across the field,

And all the leaves were calling me.

And the wind went sighing over the land,

Tossing the grasses to and fro,

And a rainbow held out its shining hand—

So, what could I do but laugh and go?”
