In a week when DoorDash delivered for investors and Airbnb made itself at home, this also happened: France’s data privacy watchdog said it has fined Google $ 121 million and Amazon $ 42 million for breaching the country’s rules on advertising cookies. The CNIL said the French websites of both companies did not request consent from internet users about trackers, or cookies, that were automatically saved on computers for advertising purposes. It said Google and Amazon also failed to provide clear information to users about the purposes of these cookies and how they might refuse them.
Reversing an earlier policy of not offering post- ride photos to guests who did not correctly wear face coverings on its attractions, Walt Disney World in Florida started offering enhanced images that place digital face masks over maskless guests. The theme park, which reopened in July, hopes that the digitally enhanced images, which take longer to process, will promote compliance with its COVID- 19 protocols, according to WDW News Today. The park’s California counterpart, Disneyland, remains closed under the state's coronavirus restrictions.
Mastercard and Visa said they would block their customers from using the credit cards to make purchases on Pornhub after accusations the pornographic website showed videos of rape and underage sex. They reacted after an investigation by opinion columnist Nicholas Kristof of the New York Times that also alleged the site depicts revenge pornography and video taken without consent. Mastercard said it is terminating use of its cards after its own investigation confirmed violations of standards prohibiting unlawful conduct. Mastercard is also investigating other websites for illegal content. Visa said it is suspending use of its cards even though its own investigation is incomplete.
