- — Eric Branch

Kickoff: 10 a. m. Sunday TV/ radio: 5 # z / 104.5, 680, 107.7 Spotlight on: QB Nick Mullens, who might be one more turnover away from an in- game benching, based on what head coach Kyle Shanahan said after taking two days to determine Mullens would remain the fill- in starter ahead of C. J. Beathard. The good news for the embattled backup? He draws Dallas for his next start. The Cowboys have just 14 takeaways, tied for 26th in the NFL, struggle to pressure QBs ( 20th in sacks) and have allowed the most points per game ( 30.8) in the league. Dallas is on pace to allow 492 points, which would be the seventh- most in NFL history. Mullens, who has started seven of 13 games, has accounted for 13 of the 49ers’ 25 turnovers, which is the second most in the league behind the Broncos ( 29). Injury notes: 49ers — C Hroniss Grasu ( knee) and WR Deebo Samuel ( hamstring) are out; CB Emmanuel Moseley ( hamstring), LB Fred Warner ( stinger) and CB K’Waun Williams ( ankle) are questionable. Cowboys — RB Ezekiel Elliott ( calf), CB Rashard Robinson ( knee) and S Xavier Woods ( groin) are questionable.

WHAT TO WATCH

The Cowboys have the NFL’s worst rushing defense, allowing 162.7 yards per game. Dallas has allowed individual rushing totals of 115, 115, 101, 95 and 94 yards in the past four games. TE George Kittle, who remains on injured reserve, has 37 catches for 474 yards in six games this season. The 49ers’ other tight ends have combined for 41 catches for 442 yards in 2020. Former 49ers pass rusher Aldon Smith, 31, leads the Cowboys in sacks ( five) and QB hits ( 11), and ranks third in defensive snaps ( 652). Smith didn’t play from 2016 to 2019 because of an assortment of legal issues that resulted in an NFL suspension.
