Judith ( Judy) Barr passed away on December 7, 2020. She was born in San Francisco in 1938, and attended Washington High School. She attended Cal Berkeley and SF State where she earned her teaching degree. In 1968 the family, including her children Greg and Jennifer, moved to Strawberry Point in Mill Valley. The family home has always been her favorite place in the world. In 1970, Judy started “Judy’s Exercise” at the Strawberry Recreation Center. She taught thousands of classes and touched the lives of countless people who joined her class to exercise, but more importantly, to be inspired by her positive energy and message to “never stop moving.” She retired from teaching just this year. In 1985, she married Ron Barr, and they were happily married for 35 years.

Judy was loved by everyone she ever met. She took the time to really get to know everyone she crossed paths with. She was kind and generous with her heart. Judy was silly, too. She made us all laugh. Judy loved Seinfeld, Jeopardy, Mt. Tamalpais, long walks, dancing, reading, musical theater, the arts, her dogs ( Holly, Gordy, and Gigi), and her friends. But most of all, she loved her family. She supported us in everything we did, telling us how proud she was of us everyday. Judy is survived by her husband Ron, son Greg ( Jackie), daughter Jennifer ( Jeff) and her four grandchildren that meant the world to her: Natalie, Stephanie, Audrey, and Max. Donations in her memory can be sent to Jewish Family and Children’s Services ( www. jfcs. org) and/ or Mountain Play Association ( www.mountainplay.org), two organizations that Judy supported for many years.
