Stanford beats Arizona, 1st time since 2009

Oscar da Silva scored 21 points and Stanford beat Arizona 7875 on Saturday night at Kaiser Permanente Arena in Santa Cruz to snap a 20game losing streak against the Wildcats.

The Cardinal ( 42, 10 Pac12) beat Arizona for the first time since Jan. 4, 2009, snapping the nation’s fourthlong­est active losing streak against a conference opponent.

Jemarl Baker Jr. sandwiched a pair of 3pointers around a layup by Lee in an 80 spurt that gave Arizona its first lead of the game at 6968 with 3: 33 to play. After Da Silva answered with two free throws, Baker hit another 3. But Spencer Jones made two 3pointers 37 seconds apart to make it 7672 with 2: 03 left and Stanford led the rest of the way.

Baker hit a careerhigh eight 3pointers and finished with 29 points for Arizona ( 51, 01).

Cal 87, Cal State Northridge 56: Makale Foreman scored 23 points and the host Bears ( 4- 4), despite playing without their top two scorers, built an 18- point halftime lead and shot 61% for the game to win their second in a row. With Matt Bradley ( 19.1 points per game) and Grant Anticevich ( 10.3 ppg) out, Ryan Betley picked up some of the slack with a seasonhigh 19 points.

St. Mary’s 53, Colorado State 35: Tommy Kuhse had 14 points and six assists as the host Gaels ( 8- 1) beat the Rams ( 2- 1).

# 1 Gonzaga 99, # 3 Iowa 88: In Sioux Falls, S. D., Jalen Suggs scored 18 of his 27 points in the first half and the Bulldogs ( 4- 0) — playing their first game since Dec. 2 — beat the Hawkeyes ( 6- 1). Luka Garza had 30 points and 10 rebounds for Iowa.

# 2 Baylor 100, Kansas State 69: Macio Teague had 23 points and 10 rebounds, Davion Mitchell scored 20 points and the visiting Bears ( 5- 0, 1- 0 Big 12) beat the Wildcats ( 3- 5, 1- 1).

# 7 Villanova 88, St. Joseph’s 68: Jeremiah Robinson- Earl scored 25 points, Caleb Daniels had 19 points and the host Wildcats ( 7- 1) won a hastily scheduled game against their Philadelph­ia Big 5 rival Hawks ( 0- 4).

# 12Wisconsi­n 85, # 23 Louisville 48: Micah Potter scored 20 points for the host Badgers ( 6- 1), who led 44- 18 at halftime. David Johnson had 12 points to lead the Cardinals ( 4- 1).

Central Florida 86, # 15 Florida State 74: Brandon Mahan scored 26 of his 32 points in the second half as the Knights ( 2- 1) ended the 27- game home winning streak of the Seminoles ( 4- 1).

# 20 Ohio State 77, UCLA 70: Duane Washington Jr. hit two free throws in the final minute and finished with 14 points, helping the Buckeyes ( 6- 1) hold off the Bruins ( 5- 2) in Cleveland in CBS Sports Classic.

# 22 North Carolina 65, Kentucky 63: In Cleveland, Armando Bacot scored 11 of his team- high 14 points in the second half as the Tar Heels ( 5- 2) rallied to beat the Wildcats ( 1- 5), who have lost five in a row for the first time since John Calipari became coach in 2009.

Oregon 80, Portland 41: Chris Duarte scored 21 points and the host Ducks ( 6- 1) won their sixth in row. The Pilots ( 5- 2) had won five in a row.
