Maxcine Maryanne Sukle

Maxcine Maryanne Sukle peacefully departed this earthly domain on this most holy day, December 25, 2020, at home in Pacifica, CA. She bravely battled numerous health issues for many years. A native of California, she was 99 years old. Her father, Peter Floros, was a native of Greece. Her mother, Henrietta Albers, was born in California. Maxcine’s maternal great- grandfathe­r was a Forty- niner who settled with his family in California during the Gold Rush, having traveled from Illinois by covered wagon. He was a skilled blacksmith and operated his business in historic Angel’s Camp, Calaveras County, CA, while also working his gold mine. Maxcine was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Anthony; her dear brother, James Floros; and her dear sister, Constance Harris.

She is survived by her daughter, Diana Gamez, and her son- in- law, Thomas Gamez. She is also survived by three sisters, Iris Rose of Brownwood, TX; Kathryn Salotti of Santa Barbara, CA; and Christina Brandt of San Jose, CA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Maxcine was a devoted member of the Legion of Mary for many years, starting in 1963 at St. Paul Catholic Church in San Francisco. She was an active member there for 11 years and served as president of the praesidium for 6 years. After moving to San Mateo County, she joined the Legion of Mary at St. Augustine Catholic Church in South San Francisco in 1983, where she also served as president of a praesidium for 6 years and was an active member for nearly 30 years. When the Legion of Mary establishe­d a Curia for Northern San Mateo County she became its first secretary, serving in that capacity from its inception in 1985 to 1990. Maxcine loved being a member of the Legion of Mary. She enjoyed reaching out to members of the community, residents of nursing homes, and hospital patients and tending to their spiritual needs. She was devoted to Blessed Mother and frequently recited the rosary. Maxcine was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in South San Francisco for over 30 years.

Interment at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Colma, CA.
