Arthur J. Sullivan III

Art passed away the morning of December 20,2020 at CPMC from pneumonia and heart complications at the age of 81. Loving husband of Marian ( Olsen) Sullivan. Loving father of Michael, Stephanie, Daniel ( Carolyn), and Patricia Barberini. Loving grandpa of Jonathan ( Lauren), Nicholas and Emma Sullivan and Sophia Barberini. He is survived by his sisters Kathleen Foley and Rosemary Dervin, brother in law Frank Dervin, sisters in law Jerry Lynn Sullivan and Yvonne Olsen. He survived by eleven nieces and nephews.

Art was preceded in death by his parents Arthur J. Sullivan Jr. and Catherine E.( Daly) Sullivan. Brothers James and John Sullivan. Brothers in law Jim Foley and Kenneth Olsen.

Art was born and raised in San Francisco. He attended St. Anne Grammar School ( Class of 53), St. Ignatius High School ( Class of 57), City College of San Francisco and San Francisco College of Mortuary Science. He worked at Arthur J. Sullivan & Company, Funeral Directors for over forty years. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends and going out to dinner with Anita and Harry ( deceased). He enjoyed bowling, which he did for many years and watching the Giants, 49er’s and the Warriors. Lately he started to take an interest in watching Golf. He was a parishioner of St. Cecilia’s for 52 years. He was a member of St. Cecilia’s Men’s Club, St. Cecilia’s Men’s Bowling Team, Head of the committee for the first few St. Patrick’s Day Dinners, and a member of the Mission Kiwanis Club. He was a member of the California Funeral Directors Association. He was a kind and generous person and had a sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Due to the COVID- 19 restrictions a private Burial Service was held on 12/ 28/ 20 with Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma. A Memorial Mass and a luncheon will be will be held when it is safe for everyone to get together.
