Gilbert Carl Estrada

July 19, 1960 - December 24, 2020

-

Carl, as he preferred to be called, passed away on Christmas Eve 2020 after a long battle with heart disease.

Born and raised in San Francisco, Carl walked through life to his own beat, a true Sunset boy with family baggage who believed in his generation’s philosophy of “Sex, Drugs & Rock- nRoll”.

A graduate of Abraham Lincoln HS, Class of ‘ 78, Carl worked hard all his life and he was proud of the accomplishments that his work brought him. He reminisced of his days as a young man at the Chateau, then later working as a Warehouseman with ILWU Local 6 before becoming a driver for the Int’l Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 70, which he retired from in 2018.

Carl’s happy place was outdoors. He loved riding his motorcycle with the wind in his hair, breathing in the air at Ocean Beach or riding his bicycle up Mt. Diablo and all around SF. Often you could find him in GG Park watching the roller skaters. He enjoyed swimming and sitting in the sun in Arnold CA listening to the sounds of Sammy Hagar & Van Halen.

Survived by his sister Joanne Regalia ( Mike), nephew Angelo Regalia, his beloved Auntie Olga Jess ( his confidant) and MANY cousins. Preceded in death by parents Merle & Gilbert Estrada.

A Celebration of Life will be held outdoors at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park in Colma CA ( by the duck pond) on Sunday, January 10th, 2021, 9- 11am. The family is asking to kindly respect social distancing and Covid- 19 protocols including wearing a mask.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the American Heart Association.
