After a courageous battle against lymphoma, Jerry passed away from COVID-19 on January 4, 2021 at the age of 71. He was born in San Francisco to Joseph and Marie (Vezzaro) on October 14, 1949.
Jerry graduated from All Hallows Elementary School and Riordan High School in San Francisco. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Santa Clara University and Master’s Teaching Credential from USF. Jerry taught at Monte Verde Elementary School in San Bruno for 40 years until his retirement in 2016. He was a lifelong educator who touched countless lives. His students adored him and always spoke highly of him. He was a true inspiration and was often noted as a student favorite.
Jerry was loved by many and will be remembered for his kindness, sense of humor and engaging personality. He loved people and always showed an interest in others. He is known for his ability to talk with anyone and his delightful storytelling.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sharon; son, Michael; daughter, Lisa; brothers Tom (Sue) and
Dan (Tish); sisters Theresa Balistreri (Mario) and Susie Alioto (Al); nephew Bob; nieces Michelle Garibaldi (Joe), Susie Cole (James), Tina, Angela and Sophia Balistreri; great nephews Ben and Dean Garibaldi, Ethan and Ryan Cole and Anthony Stenson; father-in-law Peter Lee; brother-in-law Simon Lee and sister-in-law May Lee.
A private service by invitation only will be held in his honor.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Anthony’s Dining Room, Second Harvest Food Bank and La Casa de las Madres.
