It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of ToniAnn Dale. ToniAnn was born to Anthony and Dorothy Zgraggen of San Francisco. She grew up in the Visitation Valley with her sister Cindy and brother Dennis. She attended St. John’s Catholic high school and later went on to nursing school to pursue her passion of helping others. She met the love her life, Don, while working at JCPenny’s with Don’s mom, Winnifred. They were encouraged to go out on a date and the rest is history. They quickly fell in love and have been married happily for 57 years. Toni and Don moved to Colma where they created their family. Toni has two daughters, Melanie(Jeff) and Tricia, whom she loved spending time with. She also has five grandchildren: Alyssa, Danielle, Barrett, Shaymus, and Braydon and a great granddaughter, Catalaiia. They brought much happiness to Toni and she glowed with pride every time she told stories about any of them. Toni enjoyed taking pictures of family and friends, watching her grandchildren grow up, finding sayings that touched her in some way, going out to eat, shopping, bird watching, flowers, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, and helping people. She was always generous with her time, support, advice, and hugs.

Family was everything to Toni and she tried her best to keep in touch with them, even making it a point to chat with a cousin who lived out of the country, once every few weeks. She enjoyed checking in with several of her nieces and nephews and would share updates with family. In many ways, Toni was a cornerstone who kept the family connected.

Toni gave consistently to many charities. If you would like to donate in her name some of her favorites were St. Jude’s, Shriner’s Hospital, and the Wounded Warriors Project.
