Anna Selina Dalgaard
Oct. 30, 1920 - Jan. 30, 1921
Anna was born in San Francisco to Anna Kennel & Stephen Reichmuth, immigrants from Switzerland. The youngest child, predeceased by her brothers Stephen and Anton, she attended St. Anthony’s on Army St., Mission High School & Rhodes Business School. She began with Lerer Bros. in SF in 1939 as a bookkeeper, retiring in 1992. There she met Jack Brundrett & they married at St. Anthony’s May 29, 1941. After 26 years of marriage Jack passed away in 1967 at the young age of 49. Their one daughter Jacqueline (Pete) was born in 1947. In 1968 Anna found love again with Norman Dalgaard, a widower whose wife Margaret Dettling was Anna’s cousin and moved to Dixon, Ca. They enjoyed 41 years together travelling the world, an active social life in the Danish and Swiss communities. Their home was always open for friends to stop by. Norman passed away in 2008 and Anna came to live with her daughter and son-in-law in Novato. In 2014 she moved to Anton Pointe until her peaceful passing.
Anna came from a family of musicians. Her father and his 4 brothers who all came from Switzerland, formed a band, playing at many Swiss functions in the Bay Area. Anna played accordion with them from a young age. She loved playing accordion & piano, it was her life, she would carry her accordion in the trunk so anywhere she went, she could whip it out and play music for the enjoyment of others. She was a member of Musician’s Local 6.
The family is grateful to Evelyn & Ana, who cared for her in Novato and the wonderful caregivers at Anton Pointe, especially Cleda, Odette, Dolores & Philomene, who made Anna’s life so pleasant and well cared for for 6 years.
She was definitely one of God’s best loved, admired and respected. She will be missed and will be remembered by all who knew her for her sweet smile and generous heart, fun loving spirit and integrity. Anna lived life to the fullest for all of her 100 years and 3 months!
Anna is survived by her daughter, Jackie (Pete) Zuger, granddaughter Annamarie (Lee) and great granddaughter, LeAnna; nephew Karl Reichmuth; cousin Joanne Ceballos (Richard) and special “niece” Mette Cornejo (Hugo).
The Funeral Mass will be held for family only at St. Anthony’s in Novato, committal at Valley Memorial Park. A Celebration of Life will be held when restrictions are lifted. Donations to your favorite charity preferred.
