No. 12 Oklahoma works 2 OTs to top No. 14 W. Virginia

Austin Reaves scored four of his 28 points in the final minute of the second overtime and No. 12 Oklahoma held off No. 14 West Virginia 9190 on Saturday in Morgantown, W.Va. Umoja Gibson added 21 for the Sooners (135, 84 Big 12), who had relinquish­ed a ninepoint lead in regulation.

“Just a heck of a ballgame,” coach Lon Kruger said. “There wasn’t much margin either way throughout. Guys on both teams were fighting like crazy, making bigtime plays, bigtime stops.”

Derek Culver had 29 points and 14 rebounds for the Mountainee­rs (146, 74). Sean McNeil added 21 points, all after halftime. Miles McBride scored 19.

Culver scored seven points in the second overtime to put West Virginia ahead 8885 with 2:12 left. De’Vion Harmon’s layup and two free throws by Reaves gave the Sooners the lead before McBride’s layup with 41 seconds left put the Mountainee­rs ahead 9089.

Reaves capped the scoring with a floater in the lane over McBride with 27 seconds left.

“We have to play with an edge, and we didn’t,” West Virginia coach Bob Huggins said.

#19 Creighton 86, #5 Villanova 70: Marcus Zegarowski scored 25, Mitch Ballock had 17 of his 20 points in the second half and the offense of Creighton (16-5, 12-4 Big East) was at its high-tempo best in a rout of Villanova (13-3, 8-2) in Omaha, Neb.

#4 Ohio State 78, Indiana 59:

E.J. Liddell scored 19 and Justice Sueing had 16 as Ohio State (17-4, 11-4 Big Ten) pulled away to rout visiting Indiana (11-9, 6-7) for its sixth consecutiv­e victory.

#9 Virginia 60, North Carolina 48: Jay Huff had 18 points and 12 rebounds and Virginia (15-3, 11-1 ACC) took control early and beat visiting North Carolina (12-7, 7-5) for the seventh consecutiv­e time.

Arkansas 86, #10 Missouri 81: Justin Smith scored 19 points to lead Arkansas (16-5, 8-4 SEC) to an overtime victory over Missouri (13-5, 6-5) in Columbia, Mo.

#11 Alabama 115, Georgia 82:

Herbert Jones scored 17 of his career-high 21 in the first half and Alabama (17-5, 12-1 SEC) had a blistering shooting night against visiting Georgia (12-8, 5-8).

Andrew Jones scored 19 to lead Texas (13-5, 7-4 Big 12) to a win over TCU (11-8, 4-6) as the Longhorns got their first home win in nearly a month.

#15 Iowa 88, Michigan State 58: Joe Wieskamp scored 21 to lead a balanced offense by Iowa (15-6, 9-5 Big Ten) in a win over Michigan State (10-8, 4-8) in East Lansing, Mich.

LSU 78, #16 Tennessee 65: Cam Thomas scored 25, JaVonte Smart added 20 and LSU (13-6, 8-4 SEC) beat visiting Tennessee (14-5, 7-5).

#17 Florida State 92, Wake Forest 85: RaiQuan Gray scored 24 and pulled down 12 rebounds as Florida State (11-3, 7-2 ACC) beat visiting Wake Forest (6-9, 3-9) in overtime in the Seminoles’ first game in two weeks.

#20 USC 76, Washington State 65: Tahj Eaddy scored 29 and Evan Mobley had 20 points, 11 rebounds and six blocked shots for visiting USC (17-3, 11-2 Pac-12), which won its 10th in a row against the Cougars (12-9, 5-9).

#22 Loyola (Chicago) 81, Drake 54: Aher Uguak scored 20 while leading Loyola Chicago (18-3, 13-1) to a win over Missouri Valley Conference rival Drake (19-2, 10-2) in Des Moines, Iowa.

#23 Oklahoma State 67, Kansas State 60: Cade Cunningham scored 15 to help Oklahoma State (13-6, 6-6 Big 12) defeat visiting Kansas State (5-17, 1-12).

#25 Rutgers 64, Northweste­rn 50: Ron Harper Jr. had 14 points and 11 rebounds, Myles Johnson controlled the paint with 12 points and 14 rebounds and Rutgers (12-7, 8-7 Big Ten) beat Northweste­rn (6-12, 3-11) in Piscataway, N.J.

Black Bears done: The Maine men’s team ended its season after nine games. The Black Bears had been paused since Jan. 17 because of the coronaviru­s.
