“A thousand hearts are broken tonight.” Maggie Gibson passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021 in the arms of her sister and sister in law. Maggie was a lifelong resident of Alameda and known around the island for her great personality and giving nature. Those who knew her loved her and have acquired a collection of Maggie stories to remember her. She loved music, poker, cooking and sports - especially her California Golden Bears. Maggie attended St. Joseph Elementary School, St. Joseph Notre Dame High School, University of Houston and California State University East Bay. She devoted her life to work in food service and souvenirs at the Oakland Coliseum/ Arena, Candlestick Park and Oracle Park. She was a shop steward in her union and was considered a trustworthy and fair ally of her colleagues. She is remembered with love by her many friends. Maggie treasured her lifelong friendships in Alameda - her Franklin Park Rats, her hens, and her golf ladies. Her work colleagues became her family from the Oakland Coliseum/ Arena, her union colleagues and the many friends from the San Francisco Giants souvenir warehouse at Oracle Park. For 56 years, Maggie built friendships with her neighbors in her west end neighborhood.

Maggie is preceded in death by her mother, Peg Gibson, her father, Harvey David Gibson and her sweet beagle, Marlie. She is survived by her stepfather, Red Blevins, stepbrothers, Paul and Tom Blevins, and their families, her brother, Mike Gibson and his family.
