Mary Ann Ruggiero
Nov. 15, 1935 – Feb. 7, 2021
On February 7, 2021, the Ruggiero Family lost their beloved mother, Mary Ann Ruggiero, to cancer at Kaiser Hospital in South San Francisco. She was 85 years of age. Mary Ann was a true native of San Francisco, where she attended Notre Dame High School in the city.
In 1957, Mary Ann graduated from the College of Notre Dame in Belmont. She had joked the majority of women attending the College aimed towards receiving their MRS (Mrs.) degree in lieu of their bachelor’s.
She spent her life as a homemaker and caring mother. Mary Ann was voracious reader and known for her quick mind and extraordinary memory. She was an avid bridge player, loved listening to the radio, and enjoyed city walks until she suffered a stroke in 2012. Mary Ann is survived by her children, Carolyn Conti, Kenneth Ruggiero, Lisa Madden (Gary), Peter Ruggiero; grandchildren, Charles Ruggiero, Scott Conti, (Brenda) Andrew Ruggiero, Mark Conti (Angie), Taniya Ruggiero; nephews Thomas Haunert, David Haunert, nieces Karen
Haunert, Jeanne McCormick (Thomas); great niece Audrey McCormick.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert K. Ruggiero in 1992, devoted sister Carol Haunert in 2019, and cherished granddaughter Katie Conti in 2019.
Due to Covid restrictions, services will be held privately; a Vigil at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary and a Funeral Mass at Church of the Epiphany. You can check for livestream information on the Duggan’s Serra Mortuary website and on the Church Facebook page. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
