Park Ap Lew

-

On the afternoon of January 15, 2021, Park Lew passed away peacefully with family at his side. He was a devoted and loving son, husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his children, Glenn Lew (Pat Booth) and Debbie Wong (Alan); grandchildren, Jeffrey Lew, Kevin Lew, Lauren Wong and Nikki Wong; and a large extended family. Park was born on December 5, 1928 to Fun Yow Lew and Louie Shee Lew. Park grew up in SF Chinatown and attended Jean Parker Elementary School, Francisco Junior High School, and Commerce High School. In 1949, Park met the love of his life Connie Lee, on the 30 Stockton bus. They were married for 65 years until Connie passed away in 2017.

Park was a man of many talents. He was an athlete in high school, playing football and as an All City sprinter and broad jumper. This love of sports made him a lifelong fan of the San Francisco 49ers. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he began his career in dentistry. After basic training at Camp Roberts he was transferred to the dental laboratory at Letterman General in San Francisco where he learned the craft of fabricating dental restorations. Park worked at a number of dental labs in San Francisco, Oakland, and San Mateo. After retiring in 1993, he ran a part-time dental lab at the family home.

Park had a love of music. He was a crooner in a style likened to Mel Tormé. He enjoyed Friday evenings singing with his friends at piano bars around the city. In his 70’s Park took up the ukulele and spent many an hour strumming and singing Hawaiian and pop tunes. Park had a strong passion as a family man. His greatest joy was spending time with the family, enjoying great meals together, family vacations and special outings with the kids. He cherished his grandchildren and spent many hours with them over the years. Park enjoyed traveling around the world with Connie, family and friends. He especially enjoyed family cruises and trips to Honolulu. Park and his warm smile will be deeply missed by his family.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Zoom funeral service for Park on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 11:00 AM. The link to the service can be found at www.cypresslawn.com.
