Cal stumbles at home; USF and St. Mary’s fall

LJ Figueroa had 20 pointsand 14 rebounds and Eugene Omoruyi scored 21 points as Oregon beat Cal 7463 on Saturday at Haas Pavilion to end the Bears’ regular season.

Oregon (165, 114 Pac12) scored the first four points and led the rest of the way. Figueroa scored the final seven points of a gamechangi­ng 110 run for a 6345 lead with 7:34 left.

“We competed super hard,” Cal head coach Mark Fox said. “In the early part of the game it took us a minute to find a rhythm but we eventually found one offensivel­y. And I thought for the most part we gave ourselves a chance to finish a lot of plays.

“But the real difference in the game is 11 turnovers that turned into 27 points. And those easy baskets they get really impact your defensive numbers. ... The turnovers, the easy baskets were really the difference in the game.”

Ryan Betley scored 13 points, and Andre Kelly and Matt Bradley each added 12 for Cal (819, 317), which lost its fourth straight. Jarred Hyder had 10 points.

The Bears next play in the first round of the Pac12 tourney in Las Vegas on March 10. Pacific 76, USF 69: Pierre Crockrell scored 17 points to lead all five Tigers starters in double figures as host Pacific (9-8, 6-7) beat the Dons (10-13, 4-9). Jamaree Bouyea had 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Dons in their final game before the WCC tournament begins in Las Vegas this coming week.

BYU 65, St. Mary’s 51: Trevin Knell had 15 points, one of four Cougars in double figures, as host BYU (19-5, 10-3 WCC) defeated the Gaels (13-8, 4-6) in their regular-season finale. Logan Johnson scored 17 points and Dan Fotu added 10 points and 10 rebounds for St. Mary’s.

Colorado 70, UCLA 61: McKinleyWr­ight IV scored 26 points and the host Buffaloes (19-7, 13-6) used a strong second half to beat the Pac-12-leading Bruins (17-6, 13-4). Johnny Juzang scored 25 points for UCLA.

Utah 71, #19 USC 61: Alphonso Plummer scored 19 points and Timmy Allen added 15 as the host Utes (10-11, 7-10 Pac-12) beat a Top 25 opponent for the first time this season. Drew Peterson scored 19 points for the Trojans (19-6, 13-5).

Arizona 75, Washington 74: In Tucson, Azuolas Tubelis hit a baseline jumper with 5.2 seconds left to lift the Wildcats (17-8, 11-8) past the Huskies (5-20, 4-16). James Akinjo scored 26 points to lead Arizona..

Arizona State 77, Washington State 74: Remy Martin, who scored 23 points, hit a 3-pointer with 0.4 of a second to play in overtime as the host Sun Devils (10-11, 7-8 Pac-12) beat the Cougars (14-12, 7-12). Martin was 1-for-11 from 3-point range in regulation but made 2 of 2 from behind the arc in the extra period. Aljaz Kunc and Noah Williams scored 15 points each for Washington State.

#1 Gonzaga 86, Loyola Marymount 69: Corey Kispert scored 24 points to lead five Bulldogs in double figures as host Gonzaga (24-0, 15-0 WCC) beat the Lions (12-8, 7-5). Eli Scott scored 20 points for Loyola Marymount. Gonzaga has won 28 straight games dating to last season and is the first team to finish the regular season unbeaten since Kentucky in 2014-15.

#17 Kansas 71, #2 Baylor 58: David McCormack scored 20 points and Marcus Garrett added 14 to lead the host Jayhawks (18-8, 12-6 Big 12) past the Bears (18-1, 11-1). MaCio Teague scored 18 points for Baylor, whose loss left Gonzaga as Division I’s lone unbeaten team.

#3 Michigan 73, Indiana 57: Franz Wagner scored 21 points and Isaiah Livers had 16 points and 10 rebounds for the visiting Wolverines (18-1, 13-1) against the Hoosiers (12-12, 7-10).

#5 Illinois 74, #23 Wisconsin 69: Kofi Cockburn scored 19 points to lead the Illini (18-6, 15-4 Big Ten) past the host Badgers (16-9, 10-8), who got 29 points from D’Mitrik Trice.

#6 Alabama 64, Mississipp­i State 59: Jahvon Quinerly scored 19 points and the visiting Crimson Tide (19-6, 14-2 SEC) beat the Bulldogs (13-12, 7-9).

Oklahoma State 94, #7 Oklahoma 90: Freshman Cade Cunningham scored 10 of his 40 points in overtime to help the visiting Cowboys (16-6, 9-6 Big 12) defeat the Sooners (14-7, 9-6).

#10 West Virginia 65, Kansas State 43: Sean McNeil scored 16 points for the host Mountainee­rs and (17-6, 10-4 Big 12) against the Wildcats (7-19, 3-14).

North Carolina 78, #11 Florida State 70: Freshman Walker Kessler scored 20 points as the host Tar Heels (15-8, 9-5 ACC) beat the Seminoles (14-4, 10-3) for head coach Roy Williams’ 900th career win.

Xavier 77, #13 Creighton 69: Paul Scruggs scored 23 points for the host Musketeers (13-5, 6-5 Big East) against the Bluejays (17-6, 13-5).

#18 Texas Tech 68, #14 Texas 59: Mac McClung had 16 points to lead five Red Raiders in double figures as host Texas Tech (15-8, 7-7 Big 12) beat the Longhorns (14-7, 8-6).

#16 Virginia Tech 84, Wake Forest 46: Keve Aluma scored 23 points for the host Hokies (15-5, 9-4 ACC) against the Demon Deacons (6-13, 3-13).

#20 Arkansas 83, LSU 75: Justin Smith had 19 points and 10 rebounds as the host Razorbacks (19-5, 11-4 SEC) beat the Tigers (14-8, 9-6).

#21 Loyola (Chicago) 65, Southern Illinois 58: Cameron Krutwig scored 20 points for the host Ramblers (21-4, 16-2 Missouri Valley), who survived the Salukis (11-13, 5-13) in overtime.

#22 San Diego State 62, Boise State 58: Jordan Schakel and Matt Mitchell combined to hit six free throws in the final 8.7 seconds to help the host Aztecs (19-4, 13-3 Mountain West) hold off the Broncos (18-6, 14-5).

Auburn 77, #25 Tennessee 72: Allen Flanigan scored 23 points and the host Tigers (12-13, 6-10 SEC) topped the Volunteers (16-7, 9-7).
