Lois Lydia Connell
September 16, 1927 ~ January 4, 2021
Lois (O’Connor) Connell passed away peacefully on January 4, 2021 surrounded by her four children at her home in Windsor, CA. She died of natural causes at the age of 93. A secondgeneration native of San Francisco, Lois was born on September 16, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Thomas O’Connor and Lydia (Roebling) O’Connor and the sister of the late William (Dorothy) O’Connor and Mary (Joseph) Flahive. Lois grew up in the Bernal Heights area of the City and graduated from Saint Paul’s High School. She married the love of her life, Theodore (Ted) Connell, on October 20, 1951. They were together for 47 years before Ted’s passing in April 1999.
There was nothing more important to Lois than family. She especially enjoyed holiday celebrations and Disneyland trips. Always her grandchildren’s biggest fan, she rarely missed a school production, baseball game or dance recital. Lois leaves behind her four children, Marilyn Reid, Timothy (Lydia) Connell, Laura (Eugene) Chase and John Connell as well as her four much-loved grandchildren, Rachel (Brandon) Guerrero, Michelle (Anthony) Solorio, Joshua Chase and Amanda Chase. Her long life allowed her to also enjoy four great-grandchildren, Atiana Guerrero, Brandon Guerrero, Mila Solorio and
Ezekiel Guerrero.
Lois was the sister-inlaw of Louise (Larry) Hale and Pauline (Matthew) Stiefvater. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was particularly close and will be missed by her firstcousin, Sister Dolores-Marie Calderwood and life-long best friend Edna Leonard.
Services for Lois were held on January 14, 2021. Unfortunately, because of COVID restrictions, they were strictly limited to her immediate family. An outdoor rosary service was held at Duggan’s-Serra Mortuary, followed by a burial ceremony at Holy Cross Cemetery presided over by long-time family friend, Father Thomas Diaz. It comforts her family knowing Lois now joins her loving husband and is within just a few yards of the resting place of her parents and grandparents.
