Linda Amato Visconti

-

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Linda (Kopperdahl) Amato Visconti announces that on February 12th, 2021, she died peacefully in her sleep following a 4 year battle with NonHodgkins Lymphoma. The eldest of Sam and Mary Visconti’s 4 daughters, Linda began her life in the North End of Boston. The daughter of a career Army man, she and our family were privileged to travel the world, and lived in Kyoto Japan, Munich Germany, and Verona Italy.

At the age of 21, she packed a bag and boarded a Greyhound bus bound for San Francisco. She lived in the YWCA until she found a job and a roommate, and then began living her dream. Working for several accounting firms (Leonard & William Asiano, Spicer, Oppenheim, Appel & Dixon & lastly, Bertorelli & Co), she worked her way up from filing clerk to office manager. She married Roy Kopperdahl and together they took many vacations throughout the world, returning numerous times to Mexico and Sicily.

Following Roy’s death and her retirement from Bertorelli & Co. Accountancy, she packed up her life and moved back to where everything began in the Boston area. There she enjoyed her retirement, still traveling, but mostly staying home, crocheting, reading, and watching MSNBC, The View, and Anderson Cooper. Although she never had children of her own, Linda was the beloved “Auntie L” of her nieces Kirstin Pennington (SC) Casey Lalonde (WA) Robin Eccles & Gina Murray (MA), and Christina Murray (NH). She had a great niece Ana Eccles (MA) and great nephew Kaiden Lalonde (WA) who were the apples of her eye.

She is survived by her sisters Rosalind Bryant (SC), Valerie Amato (WA) and Theresa Visconti (MA). Theresa and her companion, Michael lovingly devoted much of their lives to her care for the past 4 years. If you would like to honor Linda’s memory, please visit www.legacy.com and consider a donation to her favorite charity, St. Jude’s Hospital for Children. The family would also like to thank Dr. Jeffrey Barnes of Mass. General Hospital and all the supporting staff who did everything possible to save her life. We are especially grateful for the tender care provided by the nursing staff, especially Kathy Blais. We appreciate your commitment to delivering the best care in the world to cancer patients.

Linda loved Joe Biden, and we are glad she lived to see him elected President of the United States.

We cannot say for certain what awaited her on the other side; but we can only hope that somewhere over the rainbow, Linda is basking in the Italian sun, drifting down the canals of Venice while a handsome gondolier croons love songs to her. Ciao, Bella! Te amo.
