It is with very heavy hearts that we share the devastating loss of our dear father, Jack P. Maita. On June 16, 2021, our beloved father left us way too soon. Jack always knew how to live life to its fullest. He had a genuine joie-de-vivre and always chased life’s greatest adventures. His energy and excitement never wavered and even recently was planning to get his pilot’s certification to fly. Jack loved travel, was constantly dreaming, and overflowed with creative ideas - a true innovator. He had fond memories of spending months abroad in Europe and great joy recalling time with family in Sicily. Jack’s life was rich and colorful, he told the best stories with an incredibly sharp memory which his family loved to soak up. He had a vast wealth of knowledge about his beloved hometown of San Francisco and surrounding Bay Area. Jack was full of charisma and lit up any room he entered. His presence was magnetic and everyone he met loved him. Jack had a heart of gold, and always came with a gift in hand. He was somewhat a rebel too, and while being one of his most endearing traits, it also got him into innocent trouble at times. Jack was born on January 29, 1943, raised on Monterey Blvd, and graduated from Balboa High School. He married Sandra Pedone in April 1969 in Carmel. He worked alongside his dear older brother Frank in their father’s funeral business, then tried the restaurant/ bar industry before ultimately going on to pursue his great passions of the limousine & security businesses. In his heyday, Jack drove top executives and highly esteemed celebrities & political figures. Notably he oversaw the security detail for the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. In 2018, Jack’s beloved wife Sandy succumbed to a long battle with cancer which devastated him. His children’s only comfort today is knowing their precious parents are together again, and can now “fly” into eternal freedom...

Jack leaves behind his two wonderful daughters Vanessa and Sara; Grandson Enzio; Sons-in-law Marcel Mouton and Dan Toubiana; Dear brother Frank Maita and sisters-in-law Fran Maita, and Linda Olcott; Best childhood friend Ron Pagano; and numerous cousins and relatives he cherished greatly.

On July 11, 2021 Jack’s immediate family will gather to celebrate and honor their father and grandfather. In lieu of flowers please make any donations to SPCA or a rescue animal shelter.
