Lorraine Magnuson

-

Lorraine Magnuson, 96, of San Francisco, CA, passed away Friday, June 18, 2021. Lorraine was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 3, 1925 as the youngest of six children to Henry and Catherine Stasch.

In 1946, Lorraine married Chicago area disc jockey Anthony Forgacz. They had one child, Linda. Tony passed away suddenly in 1962 and Lorraine raised her daughter as a single parent. Lorraine became a teacher’s aide where she helped in the educating of elementary school children. Lorraine went on to become a secretary at Chicago-based stationary manufacturer Wilson Jones Company. In 1995, Lorraine married Alvin Magnuson after nearly two decades of dating. Alvin passed away in 1996, and Lorraine moved to San Francisco later that year to be closer to her daughter, son-in-law, and three grandsons.

Lorraine had a gift for gab. It was not uncommon for Lorraine to introduce herself to strangers at a neighboring table in a restaurant and be on a first-name basis before the rest of her table had even had a chance to sit down. Lorraine’s personality was not limited to the ground. On at least two separate occasions, she made life-long friends with passengers sitting next to her on airplanes. Lorraine had a personality that disarmed and charmed most everyone she met.

Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Linda Tamanaha, her son-in-law, Glenn Tamanaha, her grandsons, Job, Seiji, and Nickolai Tamanaha, granddaughters-inlaw, Sandra Razo-Tamanaha and Sarah Tamanaha, and her great grandchildren, Joaquin, Esme, Sunny, and Daisy.

Granny will always be remembered and forever loved.

Family and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass on Saturday, July 10, 12 Noon at St. Emydius Church, Ashton at De Montfort Ave., SF
