Fireworks return to Bay Area skies on July 4
There will be fireworks in the San Francisco skies once again, as well as in other Bay Area cities, in honor of the Fourth of July.
Here are some ways to celebrate the federal holiday with family this year.
Antioch Foundation’s Fourth of July celebration: Start off your Independence Day with a pancake breakfast, and come on back for more fun later in the day. Opening at 5 p.m., the event will include live entertainment, food and nonalcoholic drink vendors, an arts and crafts marketplace, a car show, and a fireworks display over the river.

Fourth of July event on the USS Hornet: Relax on the flight deck, check out a set from DJ Tanoa Stewart, grab some food and drinks, and explore the aircraft, restored spaces, Apollo artifacts and exhibits on board. The celebration will end early enough to give guests time to find a good spot to watch the San Francisco fireworks display happening in the Pier 39 area.

Pleasant Hill Fourth of July celebration: A decorated car parade begins at 10 a.m. The route map is available on the event website. Register online to enter the decorated house exhibition and contest. A fireworks display by Pyrotechnics Unlimited will begin after sunset, but there will be no viewing party at the high school fields this year.

Thrive City Summer Series Kickoff Event: Hosted by the Golden State Warriors and sponsored by Chase, this event features live entertainment including music, food vendors, a beer garden, familyfriendly activities, a pet costume parade, and a talk with former Warriors player Jason Richardson. The weekly Thrive City Farmers Market, presented by Kaiser Permanente, will be open at 9 a.m. Sunday, July 4 in the East Plaza.

California’s Great America Fourth of July Celebration: After a day of amusement park fun, head toward the Flight Deck rollercoaster plaza at 8:45 p.m. for an Independence Day fireworks show, complemented by a patriotic soundtrack.

San Francisco Fourth of July Pub Crawl and Hot Dog Eating Contest:
The lower Polk Streetcentered pub crawl, starting at Mayes Oyster House, will include stops at McTeague’s Saloon, Lush Lounge, Playland Bar, Jackalope, R Bar, Amsterdam Cafe, El Lopo, Zeki’s Bar and others. The event will also include a hotdogeating contest 8 p.m. Sunday, July 4, at McTeague’s Saloon.

San Ramon Fourth of July 2021 Celebration Concert: A band playing patriotic music, and a tribute to veterans, will open the evening’s festivities, followed by a performance by Fleetwood Mac tribute band Fleetwood Mask. There will be no fireworks display this year.
