Kathy Gallagher slipped away peacefully at home on Monday, July 19, 2021, after an honorable battle with cancer. Her remaining days were spent in the comfort of her home surrounded by family, laughter and love, and the Giants game on in the background.

She is survived by her treasured husband of 51 years, Mike, her cherished children - Noreen and the late Marty, Pete (Brie) and her beloved grandchild­ren - Banan and Grace. Kathy was born to Mary and Terrence Culloty on May 23, 1951, at Letterman Army Hospital in the Presidio of San Francisco. Kathy was the devoted sister of: Sean, TJ (Maria), the late Bridget (Billy), Denis (Vincenza), Joan (Colm), Jane (Martin), and Bobby. Kathy was the adored sister-in-law of: the late Eddie and (the late Eileen), Mary (the late Gerry), the late Seamus (Mary), Bridgie (Micheal), Ann (Michael), Marty (Margaret), Peter (Margaret) and Christy. Kathy was also a treasured aunt, niece, godmother, great aunt, cousin, coworker and friend.

Kathy created special and meaningful relationsh­ips with all of her family and friends around the world, thousands of miles never got in Kathy’s way of making everyone she knew feel important and special. She always had her camera in hand to capture these once in a lifetime moments and there was always a craft project in the works, be it a baby blanket, an embroidere­d dance costume or baby picture, receiving blankets for newborns, Irish soda bread and more.

Kathy’s life was a rich life full of family adventures and service. Kathy loved to travel the world and spend time with family. Summers in Ireland you were sure to find Kathy at her family home on Achill Island, a Mayo Match in Croke Park and an annual road trip to Cork and

Kerry. The rest of the year, Kathy loved to spend time with her family and friends, memorable times including: Christmas Day celebratio­ns, Saint Patrick’s Day parades, swimming, golfing, Giants games, trips to Tahoe, Yosemite, Sebastopol and San Diego, all sorts of activities with her grandchild­ren and most importantl­y, long walks with her partner in crime, Mike.

Kathy was a registered nurse for 46 years. Kathy’s nursing career included positions at Saint Francis Memorial Hospital, French Hospital and Kaiser Permanente Hospital, San Francisco. Kathy was wellrespec­ted for the decades of bedside care and time and mentorship she shared with her fellow coworkers. Kathy was a true example of the Catholic faith she held so dear. She was loving, kind, generous, patient, and a never-ending source of unconditio­nal love and forgivenes­s. She will be dearly missed by all who were lucky to have known her. The world will not be the same without her smile.

Friends may visit Friday, July 30, 2021 after 5:00pm at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 40th Ave and Lawton, SF, where a vigil service will be held at 6:30pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated, Saturday 11:00am at Holy Name. Private Interment. A reception will follow.
