Denise Maffei Karp, beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 18, 2021 in San Mateo at the age of 61. Denise was born September 29, 1959 in San Francisco to Lucy and Dan Maffei. She is survived by the father of her children Donald Fields (Melissa); three children Donald (Rachel), Stacey (Jermaine), and Erica; six grandchildren Nathaniel, Natalia, Jakai, Amelia, Mateo, and Zoe; partner Bob; step father Don Blanchard; step mother Diane Maffei; siblings Dan and Pam; brother-in-law John Fields (Deb) and many relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her dad Dan Maffei; mother Lucy Blanchard, and husband Chris Karp. Denise will be remembered for her generosity, love, and resilience. She cherished her family, kittens, the ocean, and dancing to her favorite music. Thank you to all who shared love and comfort with her throughout her life. Her spirit will always be with us. May she rest in peace.
According to her wishes, a very intimate group of loved ones will scatter her ashes in Monterey Bay where she enjoyed moments of peace and beauty. The family asks only for your continued prayers.
Eleanor joined her husband Alex on July 6, 2021, almost 14 years after his passing. They were married in June 1966 and spent 41 loving years together. Eleanor was born in Pennsylvania and later worked in a law office in Pittsburgh. She attended Duquesne University there and after moving to California, continued her education at the College of San Mateo and Notre Dame de Namur University, where she earned her Master’s Degree and later worked with students as a Financial
