“Millie” passed away peacefully on August 7, 2021 at the age of 96 surrounded by the love and care of the nursing staff of Villa Siena in Mountain View, CA. Millie was a native daughter of her beloved birth city of San Francisco where she resided for 90 years. Born and raised in the Mission District, she was a graduate of St. James grammar school in 1938 and Immaculate Conception Academy High School in 1942.

Her joyful, gregarious, compassionate, and generous personality was based in her profound belief in her Catholic faith and in her family upbringing. In her early career, Millie was a top sales representative of the Brunswig Drup Corp. Upon her retirement from Brunswig she managed the San Francisco medical office of Michael T. Michael, MD for over 20 years. Millie gave generously of her time to the Holy Family Day Home located at 16th and Dolores Sts. and was a member of the Day Home’s ladies auxiliary which allowed her to support the work of her lifetime friend, the late Sister Marianne Smith, whose life was dedicated to the children at the Home.

Millie was tremendously proud of her Lebanese heritage and had many friends of Lebanese lineage who became part of her unofficial family. Her lifetime relations with the families of the late Dr. Michael and Carmen Michael, Wally and Agnes Leach, Bill and Helen Fatooh, Msgr. John T. Foudy, Fr. Denis Foudy, their sister, Mary, and Matt and Anita Ryan carried forward through the years to those families children. Special thanks to Donna Cahill, former Exec.Dir. of the Day Home and Fr. Dan

Carter for their corporal works and support for Millie and to “Team Millie” members Carroll Shannon, Elizabeth Phillips, Yvonne Selner, Winnie Kingsbury, and Peter Fatooh who were constant support for her.

Millie’s love of life was evident in her world travels and her delight in dining at some of San Francisco’s legendary restaurants where she was known by name. Millie was predeceased by her parents, John and Annie Samaha, her sisters, Sister John Dominic, OP; Sister John Marie, SHF; her brother, Brother John Samaha, SM; and her lifelong friend, Sister Marianne Smith, SHF. Millie is survived by her loving cousins, Michael Geha and Kathryn Geha Beam of Toledo, OH.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Millie at Villa Siena on Thursday, August 19th at 11:15a.m. Committal will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery on Friday, August 20th at 11:00a.m. Masks required for the funeral service as well as proof of vaccination from COVID (copy ok) per requirement of Villa Siena.
