Georgia Busse

-

Georgia was born in Chicago, to Greek immigrant parents, Aphrodite and Anton Sarlas. Georgia attended High Park Hyde School then went on to study at business school. Georgia married Richard (Doc) Busse in 1950 and was married for 55 years until his death in 2005. Georgia began her career at Universal Oil Products, worked there for 28 years, earning promotion after promotion until she ended up working for the president. They moved to San Francisco in 1974 and she worked for Crown Zellerbach for 8 years, until it was taken over in 1985, when she then decided to retire. Georgia and Doc enjoyed doing many things together in San Francisco – opera, ballet, symphony and plays. They traveled to Europe many times; twice to Greece to visit her mother’s relatives. One of their favorite places was Lake Tahoe, which they visited 68 times since 1974!

Georgia was the oldest of four children (Bess, Connie, and Gus). She had 8 nieces and nephews (Rachel Collett, Cathy Bille, Peggy Dunkley, Kip Busse, Greg Gallagher, Brian Gallagher, Mark Gallagher, Marian Gallagher, Lee Brda, Lynn Malek) and many great nieces and nephews. It was a very close-knit family, with one niece, Cathy, living next door for over 20 years.
