Anna May Thomas
At rest, in Palo Alto on November 28, 2021, Anna May Thomas (nee Mahoney), dearly beloved wife of the late Ray Thomas; loving mother of Fr. Gary Thomas of Menlo Park, David Thomas and Joanne Herzog of San Mateo; loving “nana” to Nicholas and Christine Thomas and Stephanie and Harrison Herzog; loving great grandmother of Julianna Thomas; dear sister of the late William Mahoney and Patricia Sienes; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; a native of San Francisco whose roots were found in the Mission District, aged 95 years. Anna May was a graduate of St. James parish grammar school and Immaculate Conception Academy, Class of 1944; former longtime resident of So. San Francisco and formerly an active parishioner at All Souls parish, So. S.F and St. Gregory parish, San Mateo, and for the past 10 years an active parishioner at St. Matthew parish, San Mateo. Anna May was a retired employee of the So.S.F. Unified School District for 22 years, She was a 20 year volunteer at Peninsula Hospital, Burlingame, a resident of San Mateo for the past 42 years.
Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation, Thursday, December 9, 2021, beginning at 12 Noon followed by a vigil/ Rosary at 12:30 pm and are invited to participate in the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial, Thursday at 1 PM in the chapel of St. Patrick Seminary, 320 Middlefield Road, Menlo Park, CA. Please note that masks are required for the funeral mass in the chapel. A reception will follow in the seminary refectory on campus.
Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Los Altos will be private on Friday. Contributions to Immaculate Conception Academy, 3625 24th Street, San Francisco or St. Patrick Seminary, Menlo Park, CA preferred.
