Albert F. DaValle

Al passed peacefully on November 9, 2021 at the age of 99 with loving family by his side. He was a loving husband, father, grandfathe­r, great-grandfathe­r, uncle and friend to many. Albert was born on March 6th, 1922 to Luigi and Giovanna (Mastrelli) DaValle. He was a lifelong resident of Oakland, he graduated from Oakland Technical HS. Al was a World War II veteran, serving honorably from 1942 to 1945 in the 54th USN Constructi­on Battalion in North Africa.

After the war Al returned to civilian life in Oakland, where he worked with his father in the family business of L. DaValle & Son, Concrete Contractor­s.

Al married the love of his life, Catherine (Poggio) on May 15, 1949. They enjoyed 62 years together raising a family of 3 boys. Al was an avid golfer, which he played until he was 95. He was a lifelong supporter of all the local teams, an original season ticket holder of the Raiders.

Most of all, Al loved his family and friends with whom he created many happy memories.

Albert is survived by his sons Robert (Sharon), Paul (Mayling) and daughter-inlaw Janet (Alan). Grandchild­ren Rachel, Andrew, Daniel, Joanne Goh (Robbie), Tracy Arzel (Ronan). Great-grandchild­ren Noah and Owen Arzel, Max and Ben Lemos. Nephew Mark Ratto (Amy), niece Judi Ratto and many loving cousins and friends. He will be greatly missed.

He is predecease­d by his wife Catherine, his son Alan and his sister Norma Ratto (Leonard).

A Memorial Mass will be held on January 8th, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. Augustine Church, 400 Alcatraz Ave., Oakland, CA 94609. In lieu of flowers or donations his family asks you to enjoy a family dinner together, a glass of wine or a round of golf with friends or better yet all three!!
