Senators upend Lightning

-

Brady Tkachuk notched his first career hat trick for Ottawa but made sure to share the spotlight with Anton Forsberg.

The Senators captain knew his goaltender deserved just as much credit in the Senators' 4-0 win over the Lightning on Saturday in Ottawa. Forsberg made 24 saves for his first career shutout. The 29-year-old netminder is riding a personal four-game win streak and appears to have taken over the starter's role in Ottawa.

“I didn't know it was (his) first career shutout, so that's probably more exciting,” Tkachuk said. “He's been holding the fort down and he played awesome again tonight.”

“It was really nice to get a shutout just for the confidence and all that,” said Forsberg, who played his 66th career NHL game.

The Senators scored two power-play goals and were perfect on the penalty kill as the Lightning went 0-for-5 with the man advantage.

Maple Leafs 5, Blackhawks 4: David Kampf took a lucky carom off the end boards and scored with 1:20 left in the third period to give Toronto a home win over Chicago.

As Chicago goalie Kevin Lankinen went behind his net to stop Morgan Rielly's shot into the zone, the puck bounced to Kampf, who scored an easy goal against his former team.

Capitals 3, Sabres 2: T.J. Oshie and Evgeny Kuznetsov had shootout goals for Washington in its win over host Buffalo.

Buffalo snapped a streak of five regulation losses but fell to 3-14-3 over the past 20 games.

Islanders 4, Devils 2: New York finally won a game at its new arena, beating division rival New Jersey with the help of two former Devils captains.

The Islanders' seven-game winless streak at UBS Arena had been the longest stretch in NHL history to open a new arena.

Penguins 1, Ducks 0: Casey DeSmith stopped all 33 shots he faced, and Brock McGinn gave host Pittsburgh the only goal it needed to beat Anaheim.

Blues 4, Canadiens 1: Charlie Lindgren made 22 saves and Pavel Buchnevich had a goal and assist, leading St. Louis to its seventh straight home win.

Hurricanes 3, Oilers 1: Sebastian Aho scored two goals to push visiting Carolina past Edmonton.

Flyers 5, Coyotes 3: James van Riemsdyk scored two goals and Patrick Brown scored his first goal of the season, leading Philadelphia to a road victory over Arizona.
