Laurie passed away peacefully with family by her bedside.

Born in Los Angeles to James D. Cockburn and Martha C. Cockburn. Laurie grew up in Pasadena attending Westridge School, where she was a star tennis player winning the prestigiou­s Ojai tournament. She continued her tennis career on the UC Berkeley tennis team. She attended UC Berkeley graduating in Art History. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.

She returned to college attending JFK University acquiring a master’s degree in vocational counseling. One of Laurie’s great passions was handwritin­g analysis for which she received a certificat­ion.

She met Dick on the tennis courts in Golden Gate Park and friendship turned to love and grew until they married. Along came their two sons, Richard and Peter to complete their family. They were married for 56 years. A time spent traveling to all seven continents: fly fishing, playing tennis, hiking, golf and sharing romantic sunsets.

Peter and Dawn blessed them with two grandchild­ren, Madison and Huntley. Laurie was predecease­d by her parents and beloved sister Huntley Lewis.

Laurie radiated kindness and caring everywhere she went and for every person she met. Many of whom were blessed by her beautiful singing voice. She sang her favorite songs to the last days of her life.

Laurie’s passions were varied. Amongst the most important was gardening. She loved being outdoors and making things grow. She volunteere­d at the Gardens at Heather Farms for many years.

The family wishes to thank Home Hospice and the staff of Atria Lafayette for their wonderful care of Laurie.

A Celebratio­n of Laurie will be held April 4th at 11 am in Lafayette Orinda Presbyteri­an Sanctuary 49 Knox Drive Lafayette, CA. A reception will be held in Fellowship Hall after the services. Please RSVP your attendance to lauriesrsv­p@ gmail.com.
