Yvette Hula Bellan passed away on January 07, 2023 after a nearly 12 year struggle with Glioblastoma. Born to George and Mary Bellan and survived by her sister, Elaine (Andy) and brothers, Phil (Patti) and Joe and nieces and nephews, Solomon, Eric, Emma and Fina, also by her aunt Marion and cousins Mary (Jon) and Susie (Steve) and their children, Kenny, Genevieve, Connor, Darwin and Sterling.

Creative and unique, Yvette was the floral design manager at McCalls Catering and Events in San Francisco in the late 90’s until mid 2000’s. She had a successful career and led a talented design team to produce countless events in all the major venues in San Francisco and throughout the Bay Area. Loved and respected by her peers, she made life long friendships with many of her co-workers.

Spending time with Yvette in her garden, you were transported to another world. Each section cared for by countless hours enjoying nature. You could see the intricacy in small sections or when you stepped back and looked at the garden as a whole, it revealed itself as one huge, living, breathing arrangement. Much like the beautiful floral designs she created.

Yvette loved R&B music, her favorites being The Isley Brothers, Aretha Franklin and Nina Simone. Her tenacity and stubbornness helped her survive one month shy of 12 years with one of the most aggressive brain cancers. A fighter to the end! We were lucky to have enjoyed her for so long!

A memorial picnic will be scheduled on Mt. Tam in the spring. Please contact her sister Elaine for more details.
