Charles W. Lutz

We are saddened to announce the passing of Mr. Charles (Chuck) Lutz on December 28, 2022, he passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Chuck is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years Irene H. Lutz, brother George S. Lutz, sister-in-law Debbie Lutz, and proud uncle of Cory Lutz and Andrea McClure and great uncle of Kyle McClure. He is also survived by sister-in-law Olga Failla aka “sisterette” and three other sister-in-law’s and their spouses, two brotherin-law’s, six other nephews and his doting cat, Rusty. Chuck was predeceased by his father Charles D. Lutz and mother Jennie D. Lutz.
Born and raised in San Francisco, CA. Chuck was a Boy Scout and achieved the highest honor possible as an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Westmoor High School in 1966. He then enlisted with the Navel Reserves and received an honorable discharge. Chuck’s impeccable attention to detail and strong organizational and people skills were admired which led him into a career in the music industry. As a tour manger and event planner he worked with some of the most famous and talented artists and bands, helping bring their records to platinum and gold. He relished the opportunity to travel the world and work with such talent.
Chuck met his wife Irene while on tour, they married in 1990 and settled in
Novato, CA. Chuck’s love for camping and the great outdoors, scuba diving, and gardening were shared with his wife. He also loved to do crossword puzzles. This came from working at his first job at the SF Chronicle and continued right to the end of his life, where he still enjoyed completing the most difficult crossword puzzles. Chuck was a member of the Military Vehicle Restoration Society. He had many friends in this community that shared his passion for restoring WWII jeeps and collecting and restoring WWII memorabilia. He earned an honorable mention for going above in beyond as a “Fact Checker” for the book, Ford GPW Restoration Standards 1942-1945.
