Brendan Gerard Spiers

Brendan passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the age of 66. Beloved husband of Eileen; father to Aishleen and Christina; brother to Kevin (deceased) (Shari), Patrick (Patsy, [deceased]), Kathleen (Joseph) Silvestri, and Maura (Brian) Coulter; uncle, cousin, and friend to many.

Brendan was born in San Francisco, California to Eileen Teresa Spiers (deceased) and Liam Francis Spiers (deceased) on October 5, 1957. He attended St. Gabriel School and Archbishop Riordan High School, where he was inducted into the athletic hall of fame. He had a strong passion for soccer, going on to play for the San Francisco Glens and to later coach his daughters at St. Brendan. For over forty years, Brendan worked alongside his brothers Kevin and Patrick as a general contractor in San Francisco.

He married Eileen Francis Collins on August 24, 1991 at St. Brendan Church in San Francisco, California. He was a devoted father to his two daughters and uncle to fifteen nieces and nephews. He loved to play golf, support his 49ers and Giants, and watch old westerns.

Brendan will always be remembered for his generosity, humor and larger than life personalit­y.

Friends are invited to visit on Thursday, November 4th at 4:00pm at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave. in Daly City where a Rosary will begin at 6:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 5th at 11:00am at St. Brendan Church, 29 Rockaway Avenue, San Francisco. Private interment will be held at Holy Cross.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Brendan’s name to St. Anne’s Home, 300 Lake Street, S.F., CA 94118.
