Robert Manuel Brizuela passed away on December 31, 2023. Robert was born in El Salvador to Efrain Brizuela (deceased) and Julia Brizuela (deceased) on November 23, 1939. Beloved husband of Marie; devoted father to Anna Marie Chavez-Rey, Rob (Marcella), Angela (Dennis) Waldron, and Andrea Panatonni. Grandfathe­r to Ashley (Paul) Brown, Robbie, Joey Panatonni, Skylar Waldron and Sebastian Waldron; great-grandfathe­r of Camden Brown. Brother to Efrain (deceased) (Charlene [deceased]), Marina (Rene) Flores; uncle to Julie (deceased), Jenny, Michael Flores, and Allison Pierotti. Robert grew up in North Beach, San Francisco, attending Galileo High School where he met the love of his life. He married Marie Estelle Karagas on July 29, 1962, at Holy Name Church. They bought their first home in Broadmoor Village, Calif., where they have lived for the last 59 years. In his 20’s, Robert played the saxophone in his high school band and was a member of “The Versatones.” He was a board member for the Broadmoor Property Owners Associatio­n and Westlake Catholic Men’s Club at Our Lady of Mercy Parish. He devoted endless time and energy to the community he loved as a Cub/Boy Scouts leader, Constructi­on Captain for “Rebuilding Together” and Habitat for Humanity, and a supporter of the Sierra Club, and Native American Tribes Uniting & Regrouping for Education. Robert was a master Arborist with the Daly City Parks Department, for 31 years. He had a passion for cycling and jogging and was a member of the Dolphin South End Runners where you “Start Slowly and Taper Off!” He completed several marathons, Bay to Breakers, and Double Dipsey in Marin County. Robert was the co-owner of the North Peninsula Dance Academy, where he could be found behind the lens of the video camera or tapping away with his top hot and cane. Anyone can attest that he was an incredible man who impacted the world for the better. Robert will always be remembered for his service to others, kindness, generosity, and embodiment of humility and love.

Friends may visit on Monday, January 15, 2024, starting at 4 p.m., at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave., Daly City, where a Rosary will begin at 6 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 16, at 10:30 a.m., at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 1 Elmwood Drive, Daly City. Robert will be laid to rest at the Greek Orthodox Memorial Park in Colma.
